Fellow Oppo’s this next week i’m getting the “privilege” to drive a 2016 Corolla S for about 7 hours, coming from a FoST i’m excited to see what 132hp or literally 50% of what the FoST has will feel like. This isn’t a rental spec Corolla I believe its the top of the line Corolla with leather, touchscreen nav, and a few other higher trim bits. The CVT should be interesting to test out and see how they compare to Nissan’s CVT’s, and to see if they are still as boring as they used to be. So if anyone has any questions about what the pinnacle of a point A-B car is ask away!

How long of standing on the gas and brake simultaneously until you smell burning cvt? For the Nissan it’s ~3 minutes.

That’s a little more than half the power of the FoST’s engine. Probably not as weird/entertaining a torque curve, though.
As for the Corolla: Meh. Does the CVT do those fake shift points? Fake shift points on a CVT are lame. A real CVT is supposed to lull you into a false sense of slowness as the engine runs at a constant speed and slowly accelerates, making the speedometer your only indication of vehicle velocity.

How is front seat comfort? How is visibility from the driver’s seat? Are there any good/bad/interesting quirks of the CVT’s operation in everyday driving?

How are the LED headlights? Actually decent?
And Does it make you wonder, how the heck can a freaking corolla get LED headlights standard... and No possible option or trim on the FoST can have them?

Does this generation of Corolla offer a backseat armrest? The previous generations always pissed me off at the lack of armrests back there.
